This is a model that
I built a couple of years ago. The kit is Hasegawa's quarter scale version of
the type 21 derivative of the Zero. I remember that it was a fun build and one
of the first where I attempted to modify the kit to add details such as thinning
the seat and adding lightening holes. I also repositioned the rudder. Overall, I remember this
being a fun build... there was a nasty seem that I encountered in the landing
gear bay that I read about later on while reading reviews of the kit on the
Internet.

The other
construction points were fairly straight forward. I do seem to remember a
gap between the fuselage and the wing roots that needed filling, but
nothing major.
All of the paint is
acrylic with the decals applied over future. Future was used to seal the decals
and then a coat of flat varnish to dull the finish. Speaking of decals, the
sheet provided in the kit allows the modeler to replicate if not all, then the
majority of Zeros that raided Pearl Harbor on the 7th of Dec. 1941. There are
some subtle pastel exhaust stains and I minimized other weathering since this is
a model of a relatively new (Pearl Harbor) aircraft.
For those
interested, I'm currently adding some build pics that I have to a forum thread at the following link. Check there often as I'm building the post as I have
time. http://www.aircraftmodeling.net/index.php/forum/11-wwii/40-148-scale-japanese-zero
