1/72 Hasegawa Early Tomcat

Hello,

This is my first aircraft build for a very long time. I built the Hasegawa kit #863 with the Aires open  exhaust nozzles.  It was built mainly out of the box, with two major areas of improvement/detailing: The landing gear bays and the Vulcan gun bay, entirely scratch-built using Evergreen plasticard, bits of metal rod taken from a wire brush and some tiny parts made for me by Davor using his fantastic micro-milling machine. Thanks Davor!

The paint job is quite straight-forward. I used paper masks to get the wavy white/grey boundary right, which is a bit tricky at the very front of the fuselage. The model depicts the plane in one of its first deployments so weathering is kept to a minimum, just enough to make it alive. I used oil washes after a couple of Future coats. The nozzles are painted with a mix of Vallejo metallic acrylic paints and graphite powder.

I hope you like it, please send me a PM if you have any question!
