Here is my 1/32 Tamiya P-51D-5 NA Mustang finished with the markings of LOU IV from 361st Fighter Group, 375th Squadron, 8th Air Force. This plane was flown by Lt. Col. Thomas Christian during the summer of 1944 in England- Bottisham Airfield (located 5 miles east of Cambridge).

No need to talk about the model. Everybody knows what it is. I can describe it as “fantastic”.

I started the build with the cockpit components as usual. The cockpit was painted with interior green and finished OOB.

I decided to add some modification in the wheel wells. Some lead wire from “Plus Model” was used in this area to upgrade details.

The tires were replaced with Barracuda Studio P-51 Mustang diamond tread tires.

Painting was done with Gunze Sangyo acrylics and Alclad metalizers.

The camouflage color of LOU IV was a mystery for years. But due to general concensus LOU IV was a natural metal aircraft with upper surfaces field painted dark green. Upper surfaces invasion stripes painted to Olive drab which is a lighter tone than Dark green.

Decals are from EagleCals #EC140

Happy modelling
