ARC is a wonderful
place. Everything from this model came from a trade or from another ARCer. Only
the paint was bought at a local store. The model is a very old Hasegawa 1/32
Starfighter I got in a trade with DonG. It was not the main part of the trade,
but when I started looking at the kit, somehow it jumped to the top of the build
pile.
The ejection seat
came from Smithery. Thanks again Kevin. The kit seat is truly awful and needed
the aftermarket replacement. The decals are a wonderful set from Leading Edge.
They even come with the resin RWR receivers that Canadian late model Starfighters
had while stationed in Germany. Thanks for the decals Dave. This is around the
60th Leading Edge sheet I have used. Some I have used more then once, say for
myself and also for commission builds. Some I have just rebuilt as my skills
improve.

The model itself is
really old technology. Very 1960's raised panel lines and chunky details. But it
still builds nice. As mentioned the only thing (I thought) REALLY needing
replacement was the ejection seat. The model is buildable in a way to show off
the radar and the engine. Well.......the engine didn't turn out that well and the
join to the middle and rear fuselage broke. So I just glued it shut. The radar
is also displayable.......but I didn't care for how it looked. So I closed it
too.
The odd paint job. Standard late
CF-104 camo. But according to the Leading Edge decals, "C" or 104806
had a replacement right wing for whatever reason, during the competition 1 CAG was
in at the time. Seemed like a neat idea and seeing as I built "D" in
1/72 several years ago, "C" it was.
In the background of some shots
you can see the modern Hasegawa 1/48 Starfighter. A much better kit then the
1/32 big brother. Also an Academy 1/32 Hornet that was my first ARC submission a
few years back.
